Candi Carpenter (they/them) is a Nashville-based performing artist with a remarkable life story, who despite being raised highly religious, is now deconstructed, openly queer, and autistic. Candi’s viral brand of confessional existentialism has swept across their corner of the internet, with multiple videos reaching tens of millions of views. Hear why Candi was declared by Dolly Parton herself as “one of the greatest singer/songwriters I’ve ever heard, bar none.” (see Candi's bio page here)
Like many other de-converted people, the "Upbeat Atheist" has a lot to say about his experiences in the world of religion and church. Once a worship leader in a Southern Baptist church and now a prolific songwriter in the freethinking community, the "Upbeat Atheist" offers a mix of scathing rebukes, comedic jabs, political opinions, hope for a more welcoming world for all humans, and contemplative reflections on some of life's big questions. Experience as a full time touring musician, entertainer, solo performer, singer, guitarist, choir director and all around lifelong music enthusiast has resulted in an impressive songwriting toolbox and the "Upbeat Atheist" has employed these skills to craft a diverse catalog of ear-catching tunes that might make you laugh, wonder, feel inspired, think, or even get a little teary-eyed.
Jenn Franklin has been turning heads since she was 12 years old, belting out the music of Heart, Janis Joplin, and Aretha Franklin with a voice far beyond her years. Over time, that voice became not just powerful—but purposeful. Originally from Kansas and now based in Nashville, she’s spent the past several years crafting soulful indie pop rooted in unflinching honesty. Her music has appeared on national radio, MTV, and major TV placements, but what truly sets her apart is the heart behind it all. Whether she's writing about personal struggles, relationships, or social issues, Jenn’s songs meet people where they are—and invite them to feel less alone. In 2016, she released Hungry For Hope, chronicling her recovery from an eating disorder, and during the lockdown years, she self-produced Truth About Monsters, a raw, reflective album about confronting the hidden parts of ourselves, both personal and collective. Jenn also collaborates with women veterans who’ve experienced military sexual trauma (MST) through Operation Song, using music to support healing and amplify voices that too often go unheard. At her core, she’s an artist who believes in the transformative power of truth—and the radical act of seeing ourselves and each other with compassion.

Steve Perron is a St. Louis singer-songwriter. He is a 2022 winner of the "Golden Pick", the international songwriting contest sponsored by the world-famous Bluebird Cafe in Nashville. As a young man Steve spent seven years in the seminary training for the Catholic Priesthood. He married and raised two children in the Church. He has since abandoned traditional belief and considers himself a Secular Humanist. Steve has written several tunes he calls "Jesus Songs" offering his personal reflection and commentary on belief in general and the Christian faith in particular.
A modern troubadour at heart, Sean Donovan is a singer-songwriter with an evocative blend of acoustic warmth and cinematic post-rock influences, painting vivid stories through sound.
After 18 years of writing, Sean crafted his style out of a lack of style. A jack-of-all-trades singer-songwriter, multi-instrumentalist, and producer, he avoids labels that pigeonhole other artists into one or two categories, and he chooses to forge his own path through the labyrinths of his mind. From tender ballads and dynamic anthems with introspective lyrics to sweeping instrumental compositions, his music resonates with those craving both depth and storytelling.
His debut double-single,"Love You More / All the Love in the World," proves this point. While both songs fall under the folk-pop umbrella, they each have unique characteristics. "Love You More" combines more polished elements of dream pop and indie pop, while "All the Love in the World" offers shades of soul and blues on its palette. His next single, "She Doesn't Want Me," showcases a more piano-based Americana style, while his most recent single, "Hurricane," harnesses the power that led to the resurgence of folk music in the 2000s and 2010s.
With a deep commitment to authenticity, he invites listeners on a journey through the highs and lows of the human experience.

Dan Barker is an American atheist activist and musician who served as an evangelical Christian preacher and composer for 19 years but left Christianity in 1984. He and his wife, Annie Laurie Gaylor, are the current co-presidents of the Freedom From Religion Foundation and he is co-founder of The Clergy Project. He has written numerous articles for Freethought Today, an American freethought newspaper. He is the author of several books including "Losing Faith in Faith: From Preacher to Atheist", "Godless", and "Contraduction".
In 1984, he announced to his friends, family, and co-ministers that he had become an atheist and appeared on AM Chicago (hosted by Oprah Winfrey) later that year on a show about "kicking the religion habit".
Dan is a seasoned and accomplished musician who combines his wit and his musical skills to compose clever, crowd-pleasing tunes that can make you laugh but also make you think. Like many evangelical pastors who have left religion behind, Dan is right at home in front of an audience. He is a delightful entertainer.
Godless Gospel is a group of freethinkers—atheists and agnostics—performing a nonreligious and humanistic message in modern and traditional “gospel” styles of music. The project involves performing a number of live concerts, recording an album, and filming a music video. Many of the members of Godless Gospel are former pastors or worship leaders, so expect to feel the moving of the "unholy" spirit as you experience this exceptional vocal ensemble.
Current song titles include:
“Joy To The World” (there is no god, no heaven or hell)
“I Believe in Honesty”
“I Don’t Need Jesus”
“Life is Good!”
“You Don’t Need To Be Ashamed” (of who you are)
“Let’s All Give Thanks” (where thanks is due)
“The Natural World” (is good enough for me)
